I have experience teaching children guitar having taught guitar to kids both privately and in schools in both Peacehaven and Rottingdean.

I have found that the best way for children to learn guitar is to teach them how to sight–read music. Most kids love learning music, they progress really quickly and are very soon able to read and play well–known tunes and rhymes. I also believe that learning to read music is a great skill for kids, helping them with their creativity and maths in particular.

I use 'The Guitarist's Way' series of books in my lessons (each book costs only £5). They are an excellent, fun series of books that provide a thorough course to enable any player to progress from finding their first notes through to understanding and playing complicated pieces.

A typical children's lesson will involve a recap of the previous lesson to check understanding, a quick play through of scales/pieces already learnt, practise of new songs and concepts and normally a bit of time spent watching a video of guitarist or other musician to provide some inspiration!

If your child does not have a guitar I can provide one to suit any budget.

Children's lessons (ages 7–12) last 35 minutes. You are very welcome to sit in on the lesson.

There are several price plans, to suit all pockets!

4–lesson bundles give you a significant saving for buying 4 lessons in advance. Most of my regulars take advantage of this, the savings soon add up! You simply pay me £69 or £39 on the day of the first lesson of the 4 and we book in the remaining 3 lessons over the next 3 weeks. Sorry, but I can't offer the 4–lesson deal if you have lessons less regularly than weekly.

If you came to me for lessons, the first thing I would ask is 'what is your goal with learning guitar'? Are you planning on playing in a band? Are you hoping for a career in music? Maybe you would just like to learn how to play a few songs to relax or to play to your mates whilst sat a round the fire after a summer BBQ... Whatever your goal, I'll provide structured lessons to help you get there.

If you are an absolute beginner I have a proven course of lessons to take you through all the basics and get you confidently playing your favourite songs in no time. Lessons for more experienced players will vary greatly depending on the player as I tailor each lesson to the individual. Our guitar lessons will be fun and informal with the emphasis on developing great technique, solid rhythm and excellent musicianship whilst learning plenty of songs. We'll also jam and practise improvisation and even do some songwriting if you fancy!

I have modern facilities to research on the internet, burn onto CD and DVD, record your playing, show video lessons, print tab and lessons etc.

I teach most guitar styles including rock, metal, indie, pop, punk, blues, funk, folk, country, latin etc.

Adult lessons (ages 13+) last 60 minutes.
